LOCKPRO / PRACTICAL GUIDE

A clearer brief for your master-key system.

Good key planning starts with responsibilities, not with a single key that opens everything.

Keys with coloured tags arranged beside building floor plans

Map doors to roles

List the areas each team needs. Separate tenant access, operational staff, service rooms and management. Avoid giving a broad access level where a limited one meets the need.

Review what already exists

Cylinder families and keyways affect compatibility. Existing master-key arrangements should be reviewed securely by authorized personnel, rather than pasted into an open enquiry.

Define key authorization

Decide who can request keys, approve duplicates and record issuance. A hardware upgrade alone does not replace a clear key-control process.

Prepare for change

Discuss planned tenant changes, additional doors and future buildings. That context helps establish a system hierarchy that can grow in a controlled way.
