LOCKPRO / PRACTICAL GUIDE

Before you quote an access-control system.

Door count is only one part of the scope. A useful brief explains who needs access, how your facility operates and what is already installed.

Start with people and access groups

List the approximate number of users and their roles. Consider employees, contractors and visitors, and whether different groups need different areas or schedules.

Document the openings

Identify each door, its material, existing lock, closer and reader. Note whether cabling or power is present. Hardware compatibility and the complete opening need assessment before a final design.

Choose the management approach

Discuss cards, fobs, keypads or mobile credentials, and how permissions will be issued and withdrawn. Consider who will administer the system and any existing platform that must be retained.

Plan the installation

Share timing, occupied hours and site access constraints. Appropriate specialists must review applicable door and life-safety requirements. Final system selection follows a site and compatibility assessment.
